It is generally best to place children and pets in the front row.  It is also a good idea to place men in tuxedos across the back row with the women in front so that the tuxedo black doesn’t become overwhelming.  By letting us know the general relationship of each figure, we can add some cute touches like handholding and arms around each other.  It also helps us with placement.
